KK Mwenyewe: Comedian's family breaks down as his body is lowered into grave

What is the significance of throwing soil in a grave?

Throwing soil in a grave signifies respect, a final goodbye and the natural return to the earth. However, in some cultures, it means something else.

In some Kenyan cultures, women aren't allowed to throw soil into the grave, especially after losing a husband or partner.

According to some cultures, if a woman throws soil in her husband's or partner's grave, it means they are no longer willing to get married again and will stay at the deceased's homestead till death.

But if a woman refuses to throw soil in her man's grave, it means they will remarry again.

Speaking to a Kikuyu man, David Kariuki, he revealed that throwing soil in the grave is a common practice among the people from the mountain.

Sharing his opinion on KK's girlfriend, he said there was nothing wrong with her throwing soil in his grave.
