The politician made the revelation while championing for better facilities for women in the prison.
Why Nyamu never shared prison story
Nyamu said that she was always afraid to speak of the matter out of shame.
However, the senator recently saw the need to share her story, hoping that it would help change the lives of inmates.
"Yesterday, while commenting on the situation at Lang’ata Women’s Prison, I made a confession. It’s wild how something I once kept as a shameful secret is now something I can say out loud because it might help change things.
"I owe you guys a story lol I will do it on live one of these days. What is your experience in a police cell, remand/prison? kama ume kaba tuchapie," she captioned the video.
Nyamu lauded Senator James Murango for addressing the pathetic state of Lang'ata Women's Prison.
Has Nyamu spent time in prison?
The senator disclosed that during her stay overnight at Lang'ata Remand, she observed the terrible conditions that prisoners face.
She said that in addition to being dehumanising, the conditions at Lang'ata violate Article 51 of the Constitution, which safeguards inmates' rights.
"I want to thank senator Murango of Kirinyaga for bringing this statement on Lang'ata Women's Prison which is an issue that has been swept under the rug for some time. Mr speaker, the conditions there are not only alarming but are also an abuse of human rights. They are also a direct contravention of article 51 of our constitution, which guarantees the rights and conditions in prisons. I happened to have spent a night at the remand prison one night," she said.

Nyamu referred to her brief time on remand as a "divine setup," claiming it equipped her to push for improved prison infrastructure.
The politician said that the prison issue has been ignored for a long time and asked other lawmakers to push for reforms.
"Luckily I was set free the following day but I have the privilege of walking around and seeing the conditions Murango is talking about, and as someone who had reported that day, I was put in a tiny cell with a very tiny mattress, I could hardly get sleep and I think some of these experiences that God makes us go through are important because he knows on your journey ahead you are going to be tasked with representing such people and facilities," she added.
Did man shoot his shot at Nyamu?
In other news, a man made advances on the politician via her Facebook comments.
This is after her ex, Samidoh, affirmed his love for his wife.
Nyamu responded to the man's advances.
