During their visit, Millicent revealed she had been bedridden for years and suffers from a range of complications, including asthma, ulcers, heart problems, spine issues, and degenerating nerves.

Their post tugged at the hearts of many, among them comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi.

He visited Millicent and discovered the severity of her condition and the emotional toll it had taken on her family.

Some of her relatives had abandoned her, and her 11-year-old son had taken on the role of caregiver, including changing her diapers.

How did Eric help Millicent Maina?

Deeply moved, Eric stayed with the family, even preparing a meal for them before Millicent was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

He later took to social media to rally support for the family, sharing Millicent’s phone number for donations.

The response was immediate and overwhelming. In minutes, her number was flooded with contributions, prompting many to urge Eric to open a paybill number to accommodate more donations.

In his latest update, Eric announced that Kenyans have so far raised KSh 6.4 million through the newly set-up paybill.

He shared a touching video showing Millicent’s sons hugging her at the hospital before taking them on a playdate to Uhuru Park.

In a faint voice, Millicent expressed her gratitude to the public:

“Ninawashukuru nyinyi wote Wakenya, Mungu awabariki. Mmefanya vizuri na Mungu aendelee kuwainua.”

Eric also outlined the goals of the fundraiser, revealing that they aim to raise a total of KSh 15 million.

The funds will go towards: paying for Millicent’s treatment and recovery, buying land for her and the children, building them a home, setting up an education trust fund for the boys and establishing a business to sustain the family.

The comedian also announced that contributions can be made through the paybill number 522533, account number 9943994.

The emotional video sparked an outpouring of support online, with many praising the initiative and urging others to help reach the goal.
