The outspoken lawmaker, often in the spotlight for her political commentary and tumultuous love life, is now trending for her bold declarations on religion and politics.
Nyamu, a staunch ally of President William Ruto, recently accompanied the head of state to a church service at ACK St. Martin’s in Kariobangi.
What did Karen Nyamu say about William Ruto?
During her address at the church service, Nyamu suggested that President Ruto’s leadership goes far beyond the political realm, describing his presidency as God-ordained.
"If you want to know God called our president, just watch his journey since he joined politics. From the day he vied for MP in Eldoret North, the then-president, who was very powerful, Moi, was against him. So against him that he planted a candidate against him. And he triumphed. That’s how you know if God is in your leadership journey. Against all odds, he is the president today. And now you tell me there is someone out there thinking they can fight him? A man who has fought two sitting presidents?" she said.
Nyamu went on to call for continued prayers for Ruto, urging the church not to abandon its spiritual duty.
"We pray for you. And for the church, when you stop taking up that role, who will pray for him? We know we are on the right side and we will speak boldly," she added.
Over the past year, President Ruto’s popularity has taken a hit across the country.
Anti-government protests have become the order of the day, fuelled by economic frustrations, political fallouts, and contentious reshuffles in key Cabinet positions.
Calls for the president to resign have grown louder, with some Kenyans expressing disappointment in his leadership.
However, even as the public mood shifts, political loyalists like Nyamu have remained firmly by his side.
Her remarks sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many Kenyans expressing disapproval.
While some praised her loyalty, others criticised her for appearing tone-deaf to the country’s current struggles.
