During her first visit to Maina’s home, Dorea was shocked by how bad things were.
Maina had been sick for four years and had no one to care for her except her two young sons.

The couple shared a hopeful message, saying that Maina was steadily recovering and showing promising signs of healing.
“Mama Simon is on the road to full recovery, and it’s all thanks to you. This journey has been nothing short of miraculous. From pain to peace, from silent tears to heartfelt smiles and joy. Your love, prayers and contributions made this possible, and today, she's in a much better place full of hope and healing. Your kindness didn't just help, it changed her life," Dorea wrote.
What did Millicent Maina contemplate doing at her darkest time?
However, beyond Dorea’s touching update, it was Maina’s raw and emotional testimony that left many Kenyans in tears.
Reflecting on her darkest moments, Maina revealed that at one point she had given up completely.
With no family support and the weight of her illness bearing down on her, she contemplated ending her life, and those of her children.
“There was a time I had lost hope,” she said, fighting back tears.
She continued:
"I was thinking of how I could inject the kids with drugs, then inject myself too so we could all die together... because I felt there was no point in leaving the kids with any family member. They told me, ‘Mum, you know what you want to do isn’t right,’ and one day, those who look down on us will greet us with respect because God will have remembered us.”
Dorea and Dibul spent quality time with her, encouraging her with kind words, sharing fruits, and even joining her in song.
