Raila Odinga's staunch supporter Nuru Okanga has left nominated senator Karen Nyamu wowed after surprising her with a live chicken straight from his village.

In a video shared online, the two could be seen standing side by side outside Parliament buildings, engaging in a light-hearted conversation as Okanga, who appeared visibly elated, bent down and began unsealing a brown box.

How did Nuru Okanga surprise Karen Nyamu?

From it, he slowly retrieved a live chicken which had its legs firmly tied together to prevent it from running off.

The colourful bird flapped gently in his hands as he carefully lifted it, turning to face the senator with a wide grin across his face.

He then handed the bird to the senator, telling her that it was a gift from his mother, as his family loves her so much.

“Familia yetu inakupenda. Wee unafaa kukuja tu huko. Ee mama ndiye alipeana hiyo kuku,” loosely translated to “Our family loves you. You should come visit us sometime. Yes, my mother is the one who gave the chicken.”

How did Nyamu react to Okanga's gift?

Nyamu, clearly taken by surprise, burst into hearty laughter, covering her mouth in disbelief as she listened to Okanga, who continued showering her with praise.

She then took the bird in her hands and, amid soft giggles, expressed her amusement that Okanga had thought of bringing her such a gift.

She added that it truly meant a lot to her that even his mother had found it thoughtful to send the chicken, and she asked Okanga to convey her heartfelt appreciation.

“Mtanimaliza na mapenzi. Asanti sana. Mama ndiye amepeana hii ama? Umwambie mama nimesema asanti sana,” loosely translated to, “You people will finish me with love. Thank you so much. Was it your mother who gave this? Tell her I said thank you.”

As the pair shared a light moment, several bystanders who were recording the encounter on their phones could be heard laughing and making playful comments in the background.

Did Okanga visit Nyamu in hospital?

In a different report, the renowned politician announced via her social media pages that she was sick and had been admitted to the hospital.

A day later, Okanga surprised her with a visit, leaving the politician excited as they chatted before taking photos.

She later thanked the aspiring politician for his gesture, as many appreciated him for showing up for his new friend.

This was after Okanga sparked reactions after buying a new ring and placing it on Nyamu's finger.
