Fridah Mwaka's friend opens up about GBV experiences
In a series post on her Instagram Stories, Nyambura revealed the abuse she endured from her husband
She also detailed the physical and emotional toll it took on her for over a decade.
Nyambura posted photos of the bruises she had sustained and recounted the horrific abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband.
She explained that she had been beaten with electric cables, belts, and hangers, all while hiding her pain behind a smile for years.

Nyambura revealed the constant cheating and dishonoring of their marriage.
“The man I married broke me. Beating me up with electric cables, belts, hangers, I walked down the aisle on my wedding day with masked bruises. I lied for years because you made me believe you will change... but that wasn’t enough...the countless affairs...cheating and dishonouring this marriage...I did not deserve that...but even then I survived... only God knows how,” Nyambura wrote.

How long has Nyambura Mburu been married to violent hubby?
She continued sharing her emotional journey:
“I was 19 when you met me, you were 9 years older than me, I would have been anything you needed me to be, a ronin operator, camera girl, assistant this and that, but instead you made me an abuse survivor. You destroyed me... I didn’t deserve any of it. For 13 years I kept the smile, while dying behind closed doors... until one day you kicked my babies out of my womb and they ended in NICU… They survived you too."
How did Fridah Mwaka react to Nyambura's story?
Fridah sympathised with her friend and shared her heartbreak after seeing the photos and video Nyambura shared. I
"I never like imposing myself into people’s personal affairs. Never. But this one has hit way too close to home. I saw pictures & video of my high school friend @nyamburamburu brave enough to share her story of abuse, of violence, of pain. A story that should never have been hers to live. And my heart broke," the media personality shared.
Was Nyambura Mburu brilliant in school?
She recalled the vibrant, bold woman Nyambura once was, questioning how she ended up in such a devastating situation.
“I know the #Nyambura who once stood tall and bold. We were girls with dreams, with loud voices, with passion. We were deep into poetry, public speaking back then in High school. #Nyambu was a powerhouse. So fierce. So confident. She was the kind of girl who walked into a room and owned it. And now I’m watching her, trembling, shattered, asking the world to believe her pain. How did we get here?" Fridah wrote.

How did Fridah Mwaka victims of GBV?
She condemned violence against women, stating that no one, regardless of their relationship status, should ever have to endure abuse or lose their dignity for the sake of a marriage.
"Violence against women in this country is no longer something we just talk about. No woman or man, I believe, should ever have to trade his or her dignity for a marriage. To anyone else suffering in silence: Speak. Cry. Scream. Leave. You do not have to stay in this kind of pain! You come first," Fridah shared.
Did Fridah Mwaka reject car offer?
Previously, the media personality revealed a Kenyan MP had offered to buy her car worth KSh 2.5 million, but she rejected it.
Fridah had just moved to work in Nairobi, but she had no car and the polictian had seen her being rained on.
According to her, the MP took her to a showroom along Ngong Road, where she rejected the offer.
