Angola, having lost to Morocco in their first match, were looking to get their first win in the tournament, while Kenya sought to build on their opening draw against DR Congo.

How did Angola vs Kenya match go?

The match was a tense affair, with Angola initially taking the lead through a well-executed goal by Joaquim Paciencia in the 7th minute.

Kenya responded against the run of play with a penalty awarded to Austin Odhiambo after a foul inside the box.

Referee Sadou Ali Brahamou had missed the infraction initially, but after consulting VAR, the penalty was granted. Odhiambo scored, becoming the tournament’s top scorer at the time.

The drama continued when Marvin Nabwire fouled an Angolan player, earning a yellow card.

After a VAR review, the yellow card was upgraded to a red, leaving Kenya to play with 10 men for the remainder of the match.

With time running out, Angola thought they had secured a late winner when Joao Chingando Manha’s header found the net.

However, VAR intervened again, ruling out the goal due to an offside position, much to the frustration of the Angolan players and fans.

This decision proved crucial, handing Kenya a valuable point in their CHAN 2024 campaign.

Did William Ruto manipulate VAR?

The incident ignited mixed reactions, with Tanzanian fans having some fun at Kenya's expense.

In a funny video, they joked about Kenya sending their president to influence the VAR, poking fun at the situation and hilariously claiming that President Ruto was involved in the referee's decision-making.

"Wakenya utaratibu wenu wa kutuma president wenu kwenye VAR hatutaki. Juzi mlituma president kwenye VAR wakati mmefungwa. Mnatimu mbovu. Taifa Stars wakikutana na Kenya, tutawapiga kumi. Wakenya mnaingia uwanjani bure," they hilariously said.
Here is the translation: ("Kenyans, keep your president out of VAR. The other day, you sent your president to VAR when you were losing. You guys are messing up. When Taifa Stars face Kenya, we will beat you 10-0. Kenyans, you are entering the field for free!")
