How did Haambee Stars, Morocco's match end?
On Sunday, August 10, Harambee Stars pulled off another surprising win against their dreaded opponent, Morocco.
Kenya won 1-0 against Morocco despite playing the second half with 10 men. Tusker FC midfielder Chrispin Erambo was ejected with a red card right before halftime.
Kenyans were very pleased with the satisfying result, and they hailed the national team and Coach McCarthy, who took over the team in March 2025.

How did Jacob Ghost Mulee honour Benni McCarthy?
He was amazed by the result and ran straight into the dressing room to congratulate McCarthy. As someone who once coached the team, he understands how massive the victory was.
He shared a photo featuring him embracing the head coach and beaming with excitement.
He described it as a historic moment for the national team.
"If it is good, it’s good. I had to go to the dressing room and congratulate Coach McCarthy. It's a historical moment for Harambee Stars' win against Morocco," he wrote.
Why did Ghost Mulee want Kimanzi to be retained as coach?
Before McCarthy's appointment, there were different candidates for the job.
Kimanzi had stepped in as the interim coach for the 2025 Mapinduzi Cup, where Kenya secured third place after falling to the eventual champions, Zanzibar.

The former Tusker FC manager had had multiple stints as caretaker for the national team.
He had also served as the permanent head coach on various occasions, with his standout achievement coming in 2008 when he guided Kenya to its highest-ever FIFA ranking of 68.
Mulee advocated for the retention of Kimanzi along with his assistants, Zedekiah Otieno and John Kamau.
He argued that the coaching staff had already built a strong connection with players, who were at that time gearing up for CHAN 2024.

The president met with the team on Monday, August 11, at the Pullman Hotel in Nairobi, where he praised their achievements to date.
In an impressive display of support, he enhanced his earlier commitment by promising each player KSh 2.5 million for a victory against Zambia in their upcoming match.
Additionally, each player will be granted a two-bedroom house under the Affordable Housing program if they secure a win in the quarter-finals.
