Appearing before Milimani Principal Magistrate Rose Ndombi, the artist dismissed claims that Mwathi had died by his own hand two years ago.
Court footage showed an emotional Samidoh during cross-examination as the defense lawyer questioned whether he had any motive against fellow entertainer Lawrence Njuguna, popularly known as DJ Fatxo, who had been linked to the death before being cleared.

When asked if he intended to vie for any political seat in Nyandarua County, Samidoh replied:
“So far, no.”
He also said he was unaware of any political ambitions by DJ Fatxo and, therefore, saw no political rivalry between them.
Responding to a question about the difference between a DJ and an artist, Samidoh noted that Fatxo was also a performing artist despite his stage name having the DJ tag.
He stressed that there was no animosity between them, adding that he had even supported Fatxo in the past. His only interest, he said, was to uncover the truth about Mwathi’s death.
Samidoh recalled seeing Mwathi and Fatxo together on several occasions, describing their association as business-related. In his opinion, Mwathi may have been pushed out of a Kasarani apartment window.
Clips of his testimony went viral on TikTok, with Kenyans posting humorous and sympathetic reactions:

During the hearing, Samidoh also recounted knowing Mwathi from childhood and described him as cheerful on the day he died, having recently secured a DJ job.
Samidoh told the court he had viewed CCTV footage showing Mwathi falling from a height, a moment he found unsettling.
He revealed concerns over the initial postmortem, prompting him to push for a second examination, which he believed was necessary to uncover the truth.
On the night of the incident, he found three women and two men at the scene. The inquest, will hear from 35 witnesses.
Detectives previously ruled out reports Mwathi took his own life. Their findings indicated the young man was killed before his body was discovered at an apartment in Kasarani, Nairobi. Investigators determined that Mwathi had suffered injuries suggesting foul play and not a self-inflicted fall.
