Omuga Kabisae: KBC Pays Emotional Tribute to Fallen Veteran Broadcaster

It is a sad day for the Kenyan media industry with the death of veteran broadcaster Charles Omuga Kabisae.

Kabisae died on Monday, August 11, after a long battle with illness.
He dedicated many years of his career to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), where he became widely known for his distinguished and memorable delivery of death announcements and other special bulletins, known as Matangazo Maalum Na Ya Vifo (death and special announcements).
How did KBC mourn Omuga Kabisae?

The state-owned company took to social media to share a throwback video of Kabisae saying his signature line:
"Yafuatayo ni matangazo maalum pamoja na ya vifo. Kwanza tunaanza na matangazo maalum. Jina langu ni Kabisae Omuga, which translates to (next is special and death announcements. We are starting with special announcements. My name is Omuga Kabisae)."
The signature line was famous in the 90s and early 2000s as Omuga would make special and death announcements on the radio.
KBC used the clip to announce Kabisae's death.
"Veteran broadcaster Charles Omuga Kabisae has died," read the caption.

When did Leonard Mambo Mbotela die?
Another icon in KBC broadcasting whose legacy will always be remembered is the late Leonard Mambo Mbotela.
His family reported that Mbotela passed away on Friday, February 7, at 9 am.
At the age of 85, the renowned journalist left behind an extraordinary legacy defined by integrity and excellence in journalism.
