"We trusted him because he had a good CV. We will continue hiring people and giving them jobs because, you know, these things happen in business. Even people I’ve personally hired before have let me down, and we even caught some on camera," she said.

Dama said that they had sent the man a parcel worth KSh 90,000 to deliver, but he never took it to the intended bus stop.

He never sent the receipt to confirm the delivery.

"He was assigned a parcel because that’s the department he worked in, at night, we usually send many parcels across the country. The parcel he was given was worth KSh 90,000. CCTV footage showed that he left with the parcel but never took it to the intended place, Easy Coach, nor did he send the receipt to the group to confirm delivery," she said.

When the customer reached out to Dama, she asked the employee for proof that he had handed the parcel over at the bus station.

"On Monday, the customer reported not receiving the parcel. We asked him for the receipt as proof that he had sent it. At first, he claimed he handed over the parcel but didn’t get the receipt because sometimes when there’s a long line, they leave parcels and collect receipts later after sending others. He said he hadn’t received the receipt," she said.

Did Dama report the employee to the police?

Dama requested the CCTV footage from the bus company and found out that her employee never delivered the parcel.

"The manager accompanied him to their offices because the customer was still waiting. When they arrived, the staff said they hadn’t seen him, although he goes there often as part of his job. We requested their CCTV footage, which showed he never went there," she said.

After confronting the employee, he lied, claiming that he had been robbed and the robbers stole the parcel and his phone.

"He was still hesitant to admit he hadn’t sent the parcel. By the way, even as he was speaking, it was clear he was a bit intoxicated, and you cannot work for me while intoxicated. We showed him the footage of him leaving with the parcel, and then he decided to tell the truth. He said he was robbed by people who took the parcel and his phone. He claimed he reported the robbery to the police in Githurai. We asked why he would report a robbery in town at Githurai police station," she shared.

The businesswoman said that she took the employee to Central Police Station.

"When we checked the CCTV from that day, at the time he claimed he was robbed, we saw him using his phone, wich meant he was lying. So, we took him to the Central Police Station to produce the parcel and tell the truth. He lied to us three times, and I cannot let it be seen that someone can steal from us and get away with it," she added.
