Ida Odinga Lands Chopper at Tom Mboya University to Pick Daughter Winnie: "Aki Pesa"

  • Ida Odinga turned heads in Homa Bay county after arriving in a blue helicopter, making a brief stopover
  • She was seen warmly greeting Governor Gladys Wanga before Winnie Odinga boarded the chopper to sit beside her mother
  • The scene fuelled online chatter, with many concluding Ida had flown in to pick up her daughter, and others simply marvelling at the perks of wealth

Former prime minister Raila Odinga's wife, Ida, has shown that a mother will always look after her children, no matter how old they are.

How did Ida Odinga treat Winnie?

The video circulating on social media shows Ida landing in a blue helicopter. A man, presumably part of her security team, alighted and stood guard. However, Ida remained seated in the chopper.

Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga walked to the helicopter to greet Ida, and they spoke for a while.

Winnie, who was at the venue, also appeared and boarded the helicopter with her mother.

The two spoke for a bit, with Winnie, wearing a white top, spotted sitting next to her mother, who wore an African-inspired dress.

The video abruptly ended before the helicopter lifted off, but many concluded that Ida had landed to pick up her daughter, who is a member of the East African Legislative Assembly.

Others wished they could lead such a life, admitting that having money is a good thing. Here are some of the reactions:

In other news, TUKO.co.ke reported that Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, the historic Bondo homestead of Kenya’s first vice president Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, is both a family residence and a mausoleum.

Visitors enter through a green gate and tree-lined driveway, passing a lion statue before reaching the main memorial.

The compound hosts multiple houses, including Raila’s first home, and the former residences of his siblings.

Jaramogi’s four wives each had separate houses, built according to Luo traditions, while one home now serves as the Jaramogi Memorial Museum, displaying his items, flywhisks, and preserved shoes.

The mausoleum, opened by Nigeria’s Olusegun Obasanjo, features lion sculptures, a carved wooden door, and a white-and-black interior with historical photographs.

A separate structure contains taxidermy, including a buffalo head and a leopard. Within the grounds lies the family graveyard, where Fidel Odinga is buried alongside other relatives.

The site remains a significant cultural and political landmark, reflecting both the personal history and enduring legacy of the Odinga family.
