Steve Ogolla Breaks Silence over Divorce with Ex-Wife, Says It Ended Amicably

Prominent city lawyer Steve Ogolla has spoken for the first time after he and Cebbie Koks separated.

Ogolla's message is an end to the rumours and conjecture that have been going around about their divorce in recent months.

After a photo of the handsome lawyer with a beautiful woman at Law Society of Kenya (LSK) function went viral on social media, it created online chatter.

Netizens wondered who the woman was, while revisiting his first marriage to Cebbie, which ended just months after finalising their traditional wedding (nyombo).

Ogolla, on the other hand, preferred to speak about the issue clearly and calmly, making it clear that his divorce was neither scandalous nor nasty.

He said in a temporary statement he released online that he understood why people were interested in his personal life again, but he wouldn't spread rumours or support agendas about his past relationship.

"I have seen renewed interest, rumours and gossip around my marriage. Jewel and I got married in a colourful ceremony full of love and promise. As a rational thinker, I am not permitted, by the rules of decency and common courtesy, to comment substantively on the fate of that marriage," he said.

Ogolla went on to say that he has never given anyone permission to talk about the issue on his behalf and that he has not given out material that could fuel speculation online.

His message made it apparent that the marriage terminated with respect and understanding, even though it didn't last.

The advocate also stated that he still thinks highly of Cebbie, even though the union has been dissolved.

His careful and respectful choice of words made it clear that he wanted to keep his private life private while still honouring the closeness they previously had.

"I have also not asked anyone to speak or comment on the same on my behalf, neither have I supplied facts or 'tea' to anyone to drive a collateral social media agenda," he added.
