The slain teacher and blogger died from assault-related injuries, including head trauma and neck compression.

Ojwang was buried in an emotional ceremony on July 4 at his family home in Nyawango village, Kabondo Kasipul constituency, Homa Bay county. He left behind a widow, Nevnina Onyango, and a three-year-old son, G.

Why was Albert Ojwang's casket draped with Manchester United flag?

The 31-year-old was a diehard fan of the Manchester United Football Club. A Manchester United flag was draped on Ojwang's casket, and a few mourners with Red Devils jerseys were spotted at the funeral.

Apart from the Man U flag, Ojwang's casket was also draped with the Kenyan national flag, and it was not removed during the burial, eliciting mixed reactions. Usually, the national flag is removed before the burial because it is inappropriate to bury civilians with it.

On August 17, a month and a week after Ojwang's burial, his favourite English Premier League club played its first match of the 2025 Premier League season at Old Trafford.

Nevnina, a fan of Manchester City, wished her husband were alive to watch the game and cheer his beloved team.

"Alberto, wake up😭💔, Manchester United is playing," the grieving widow shared.

Unfortunately, at the end of the game, Manchester United lost to Arsenal in the much-anticipated match. Arsenal's Ricardo Caglafiori scored the only goal in the 13th minute following a goalkeeper blunder.
