"When both my mum and dad died, I left in search of a new home. I was told at Kakuma that they were giving out food for free, but it was not true; you have to work for it to eat. I had so many kids, seven of them. And two of my daughters also have kids. I have been struggling with them since their dad left me," she said.

Apoo noted that she is not aware of where her ex-husband is or whether he is alive, as she found refuge when a woman took her in and started living with her.

I said, if he has left, life cannot defeat me. There is a God I will depend on. Let me stay, and think where I will eat. Stealing is punishable, and bewitching someone is not good. God will give me the strength to get food for the kids," she said.
