Pastor Kanyari Instructs Congregants to Pay KSh 300 Registration Fees if They Need Help

  • To be officially recognised as church members, Pastor Victor Kanyari's congregants now have to pay a monthly fee
  • The registration fee is tied to eligibility for personal help and private meetings with the pastor, as explained in a viral video
  • Kanyari refused to meet non-members privately or offer financial help unless they are registered members

Pastor Victor Kanyari, founder of the Salvation Healing Church, has elicited mixed reactions after announcing that congregants must pay a KSh 300 registration fee to be officially recognised as church members.

The controversial move was announced during a recent service, where Kanyari informed attendees that only those who pay the fee will be eligible for his personal assistance and support.

Why are Pastor Kanyari's congregants required to pay KSh 300?

Kanyari explained that the fee would ensure that only true members of the church, those committed to the community, would receive his help.

"Everybody must register with KSh 300. Don't come and demand a private meeting with me in my office. I won't meet you. You can't come here to ask for a loan of KSh 20,000 or KSh 30,000 and you're not my congregant. If you need a loan, we will question your church. If you're a Catholic, go back to Catholic and ask for help there. You're not my friend, go and ask for help from your friends," he stated.

He added that individuals not registered in his church should seek help from their original places of worship.

The KSh 300 registration fee is required to be renewed monthly, with Kanyari noting that even banks have operating procedures, and one can't expect immediate assistance without commitment.

"You can’t register today and ask for help the next day with just KSh 300. Even banks don’t operate like that," he said.
