Azzi Fudd's adoptive father, Tim Fudd, played college basketball at American University before he transitioned into coaching. Standing 6'7", he served as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team at Longwood University during the 2007–08 season.

Fudd previously held assistant coaching roles at The Bullis School, Fairfax High School, and The Potomac School in Virginia, where he met Katie Smrcka-Duffy.
