Lauren’s father, Andrew Betts, was a professional basketball player. He played college basketball at Long Beach State University (1994 to 1997) and Long Beach State University (1997 to 1998). After his college career, the Charlotte Hornets drafted him in the second round as the 50th overall pick.

However, Andrew did not play in the NBA; instead, he spent his career in Europe. He began his professional journey with Fortitudo Flats Service Bologna in Italy and later played in other European countries, including Spain, Greece and Ukraine.
