Babu Owino urges President Ruto to intervene

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino also weighed in, making a passionate appeal to President William Ruto to intervene and save Nduta from execution.

In a video statement, Babu argued that Nduta is innocent and had been manipulated into transporting drugs unknowingly.

"I want to take this opportunity to ask and request the president of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto, to assist this lady called Margaret Nduta who is supposed to be hanged in Vietnam. This lady did no crime. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time. She was misused and abused," Babu stated.

He went on to urge Ruto to use diplomatic channels, including a direct call to the Vietnamese government, to negotiate Nduta’s release.

In a dramatic twist, Babu even suggested that Kenya could exchange a corrupt government official for Nduta’s freedom.

"We should not lose a Kenyan. Mr. President, you need to act with speed. I know that you can take your phone and call the Vietnamese government. We as Kenyans need to unite behind this lady," he added.

Who gave Margaret Nduta drugs to transport to Asia?

Meanwhile, Purity Wangari, the mother of Nduta, and her twin sister, Rosemary Wambui, recalled their last conversation, sharing details of what they talked about.

Wambui revealed that Nduta had called to inform them that her suitcase was small and she had given a bigger one.

Wangari recalled Nduta's last message to them, promising to invite her sister, Wambui, to Asia if she succeeded in her search for greener pastures.

She revealed that a man only identified as Njoroge gave Nduta the new suitcase, and she was unaware drugs were concealed in it until upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh City's Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport.
