Why did KPLC endorse the street lighting levy?
Elsewhere, KPLC backed the proposed Street Lighting Infrastructural Support Levy (SLISL).
Managing Director Joseph Siror suggested the levy should be set at below 10 cents per unit to avoid an increase in energy prices.
The utility firm stated that the levy would help fund street lighting projects across all 47 counties and minimise disputes with county governments over unpaid electricity bills, if approved.
KPLC further noted that the initiative could support nationwide economic growth.
It also accused county governments of failing to settle power bills, emphasising that the levy could help reduce repeated disagreements with devolved units.
