How government plans to increase electricity connectivity
In other news, the Kenya Kwanza administration plans to increase its electricity connectivity rate from 77% to 83% by the end of 2025.
The government highlights that expanding access to electricity is key to boosting economic growth and creating jobs nationwide.
Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira disclosed that the government will invest KSh 54 billion to connect between 480,000 and 600,000 homes to the national grid.
This initiative will prioritise 14 counties with low electrification rates.
Wachira further explained that the investment includes KSh 12 billion for the Acceleration Programme and KSh 42 billion for the Last Mile Connectivity Programme.
Does Kenya Power support CSR?
Other than providing electricity services, Kenya Power also actively participates in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Kenya Power Foundation is known for supporting education through the construction of classrooms and paying school fees for needy students.
For instance, on May 14, the Foundation presented a cheque of KSh 1 million to Miu CEB Primary and Junior Secondary to support the renovation of classrooms to accommodate junior secondary school learners.
The initiative reflects KPLC's dedication to supporting learning environments that inspire growth, opportunity, and long-term impact for future generations.
