Kiambu: Reprieve as DCI Rescues 3-Year-Old Boy Stolen in Ruiru, Arrests Suspected Traffickers

Kiambu – Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have rescued a 3-year-old boy who had been reported stolen.

In a statement on Monday, May 26, the DCI said the operation followed a report filed at the Ruiru Police Station by devastated parents.

Where did DCI find the missing Ruiru minor?

Detectives trailed the suspected abductors amid reports they were hiding in the Western and Central regions.

"Detectives have successfully rescued a 3-year-old boy who was abducted from his home in Ruiru, Kiambu County, following a swift operation that resulted in the arrest of two male suspects. Acting on a missing child report filed by the distressed parents at Ruiru Police Station, officers conducted a thorough investigation that led them to the Western and Central regions, where the alleged kidnappers were apprehended," the DCI stated.

The search led detectives to a house in Tetu, Nyeri county, where they found the minor in the company of the house owner and the man suspected of having stolen him from his Ruiru home.

The duo was arrested as the minor was rushed to the hospital for medical examination.

"Storming one of the suspects' house in Tetu, Nyeri county, detectives found the minor in company of the house owner (George Maina) and the man believed to have snatched him away from his Ruiru home (Samuel Juma), thereby rescuing him to safety and cuffing the two suspects.
The child's parents have since been informed of the rescue, even as he (the kid) undergoes medical examination in a hospital, pending their reunion," detectives stated.

Chepkorir disappeared after leaving for school on the morning of 31 March but never returned.

Her father, Bernard Chelule, said Mercy came back on 5 April dressed in her full school uniform. He expressed his gratitude that she was safe and alive.
