Kuria recalled a political battle that felt more like a home derby; he and former president Uhuru Kenyatta were pitted against each other in a high-stakes contest.
Kuria said his party's candidate triumphed decisively, securing 55% of the vote, while the Jubilee candidate managed only 25%.
The former Trade Cabinet secretary revealed how they used all tactics to ensure Koimburi emerged victorious, despite facing a formidable and determined regime, employing tactics ranging from arrests to political manoeuvres designed to block their path.
"During the May 2021 Juja by-election, my party candidate won the seat with 55% of the vote against the Jubilee candidate, who got 25%. It was a home derby between me and my friend president Uhuru Kenyatta. My candidate faced all obstacles from a very powerful and determined regime, including arrests, etc. We had to use all tactics to remain on the ballot and win," Kuria said.

Political analyst and governance expert Alfred Makotsi weighed in on the implications of such incidents on Kenya’s democratic institutions and public trust.
Makotsi explained that fabricating abductions for political mileage not only trivialises genuine security threats but also erodes citizens’ confidence in elected leaders and law enforcement agencies.
Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, Makotsi remarked:
“When politicians stage-manage abductions, they undermine the very fabric of national security and the credibility of electoral processes. It signals a dangerous shift where theatrics replace integrity, making it harder for the public to distinguish truth from political drama. Such actions may yield short-term political sympathy but have long-term consequences for governance and public trust.”
Who scripted Koimburi's alleged abduction?
Regarding claims that Koimburi stage-managed his abduction, Kuria cheekily said the Juja lawmaker was attempting to copy the tactics used during the 2021 by-election.
According to Kuria, Koimburi seems not to have read the script his party used to defeat the Jubilee Party candidate.

He suggested that the Juja lawmaker was relying on former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua's outdated theatre tricks.
"This week I have seen my candidate try the same tactics. Only he was trying to do so without the brain of the original scriptwriter, and even he did not have the requisite knowledge to read the script. I should have warned him, 'Do not try this at home'. But then his District Commisioners Party leader was an active star of the UoN Travelling Theatre in the 80's," he added.

Did George Koimburi stage his abduction
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) director, Mohamed Amin, criticised the Juja MP lawmaker for inciting national tension by fabricating his abduction.
Amin accused Koimburi of undermining serious security concerns in pursuit of political gain.
The DCI chief pointed out that the MP’s movements leading up to his discovery in a coffee farm strongly suggested that an abduction had not occurred.
Amin further revealed that investigators traced Koimburi’s stay at a hotel prior to being taken to the farm to stage the scene.
He also noted that Koimburi’s refusal to cooperate with the DCI detectives during questioning raised suspicions of a hidden agenda.
Who are Koimburi's alleged accomplices, and what did they do?
Police have so far arrested and questioned three suspects who allegedly helped Koimburi in staging his abduction.
Juja CDF manager Peter Karatu, businessman Cyrus Kieru Muhia and Karanja Gatana (driver) were arrested by detectives and grilled for hours over their alleged involvement in the planning and execution of the abduction.
Karatu, according to the police account, called Kieru, who is also an ally of the MP, and asked him to provide his Subaru car to help transport additional security for Koimburi during a church service at Full Gospel Church, Mugutha, on Sunday, May 25.
Upon agreeing, Karatu allegedly further instructed him to drive to his homestead in Mugutha, where he met Gatana waiting for him. Gatana was reportedly in possession of Karatu's car, a Honda CR-V, registration no. KBP 803B.

Together, they allegedly drove towards the direction of Full Gospel Church ostensibly to familiarise themselves with the road in preparation for what was about to unfold.
Moments later, Kieru allegedly received a call from Karatu instructing him to drive his Subaru towards the church with two men on board. Upon arriving at the church, two men reportedly accosted the MP and bundled him into the car.
Kieru was then allegedly instructed by the MP to drive towards the direction of the Jacaranda Coffee plantation and stop near a waiting Honda CR-V(Karatu's car).
The MP was moved from the Subaru into the Honda and was driven to a local hotel where he allegedly spent the night with two of the abductors.
