Nairobi - The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Renson M. Ingonga has made a major decision regarding the Kasipul MP Charles Ong'ondo Were's murder case.

In a statement on Tuesday, June 3, Ingonga approved murder charges against five suspects including the slain MP's bodyguard, Allan Omondi Ogola.
Who are suspects in Ong'ondo Were's murder?
The DPP indicated that the five suspects will formally be charged at Kibera High Court and the Milimani Law Courts.
"The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved murder charges against five suspects in connection with the killing of Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were (pictured), the late Member of Parliament for Kasipul Constituency. The suspects are scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, 4th June 2025, before the Kibera and Milimani High Courts," DPP said
The five suspects who will be facing the murder charges are,William Imoli alias Imo, Edwin Oduor Odhiambo alias Machuani, and Ebel Ochieng alias Dave Calo, who will appear before the Kibera High Court.
The other suspects, are Allan Omondi Ogola and Isaac Kuria alias Kush, whom investigations show was the hitman, will be charged at the Milimani High Court.
According to the DPP, the suspects together with others not before the court conspired to murder the former ODM lawmaker.

"Investigations indicate that the five, together with others not before the court, conspired and murdered Hon. Ong’ondo Were on 30th April 2025 at approximately 7:40 p.m. The incident occurred at the City Mortuary Roundabout along Ngong Road, within Kilimani Sub-County in Nairobi County," DPP stated.

How much were suspected MP Were's killers paid?
Preliminary investigations into Were's assassination centred on his bodyguard, whom detective said was a key figure in the plot.
Imoli, the first suspect arrested on Sunday, May 4, claimed he was paid KSh 80,000 by the bodyguard to drop off unknown individuals near the murder location.
Further inquiries revealed that some suspects received an initial payment of KSh 850,000, a portion of which was discovered at Imoli’s home.
Detectives have now begun tracing the financial transactions involving all suspects to map the flow of money linked to the murder.
