What is the new rank of Ruto's ADC?

Lengusuranga, having been a lieutenant colonel in the Kenya Army, was promoted to the brigadier rank, placing him on the path to being a major general.

Fabian joined the military in 1999, and he rose to be the senior line commander in the elite special forces unit within the Kenya Army, which is charged with undertaking high-profile military operations.

Lengusuranga assumed the president's ADC roles in October 2022, taking over from Major General Stelu Lekolool, who was deployed back to the Department of Defence headquarters after serving as former president Uhuru Kenyatta's ADC for four years.

He has been trademarked in Ruto's public appearances, both official and otherwise.

Lengusuranga is mainly tasked with assisting the president in carrying his personal effects, opening the car door, and providing full-time security to the head of state, besides giving the president a ceremonial dignity.

The new brigadier has been a trademark in Ruto's spectacle for the near three years he has been in power, often getting himself at the delicate security breaches in which civilians have strived to have a one-on-one with the president.

With his new rank, Lengusuranga is ripe to command battalions constituting a brigade and lead in strategising plans for a specific operation.

Eyes will be on his next station, with the high likelihood of deployment to the DoD headquarters, leaving the president's circle.

Besides Lengusuranga, the president also promoted Lekolool to the rank of major general.

The former ADC had been a brigadier for three years; he was promoted from the colonel rank in 2022 by Uhuru.

Now ahead of Lekolool is the lieutenant general rank and the commander post in the Kenya Navy.

Who is new Kenya Army commander?

In other major changes, the president promoted Major General David Ketter to a lieutenant general and immediately made him the commander of the Kenya Army.

With his new designation, Ketter is slated to be the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) in the rotational system that decides who leads the KDF.

The current CDF is General Charles Kahariri, a Navy officer who took over from the late General Francis Ogolla, who was drawn from the Kenya Air Force.

Before Ogolla was General Francis Kibochi from the Kenya Army, who took over from retired General Samson Mwathethe of the Kenya Navy.

Meanwhile, General Fatuma Ahmed was close to making history as the first woman to be the CDF.

She was the first woman to be the commander of a KDF branch, the Kenya Air Force.

Fatuma has, however, retired from the service after 42 years.
