"Currently, we have unrest across the country, but I plead with our youths to go slow and embrace dialogue. We need to pray for our country," Abass said.

Abass was speaking during the wedding of Mustafa Brown, who in 2022 had to step down after being advised first to tie the knot as a sign of readiness for leadership.

His call comes amid rising tension in the country with youths calling for reforms, especially in the National Police Service.

Gen Z recently called for the sacking of Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat after he was linked to the murder of blogger Albert Ojwang.

Why did Raila Odinga call for dialogue?

The ODM lawmaker warned that the government's resort to abducting and killing would only make the matter worse.

In 2024, former prime minister Raila Odinga called for Gen Z and Ruto's government to embrace dialogue.

On Tuesday, July 9, the veteran politician authoritatively declared that a bipartisan dialogue would be deployed to address the issues raised by the restive Kenyan youth who, in the recent past, have led fervent political activism demanding change in governance.

Among the issues Raila said would be on the agenda are corruption, unemployment, gender equality and electoral justice.
