The former deputy president has linked the arsonist attacks to President William Ruto and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah.

According to Gachagua, the president allegedly used Ichung'wah to plan the attacks on police stations in Mt. Kenya.

"I have heard the president saying people have attacked police stations and the law courts. It was all stage-managed by the MP of Kikuyu. How do you explain that people can walk into a police station, and they are not armed, and take over the station from armed police officers?
"All these attacks on vital installations were stage-managed by William Ruto through Kimani Ichung'wah to create an opportunity to prefer charges against people using their terrorism act. Nobody attacked the police station; they were all stage-managed by the government," Gachagua claimed.

The former Mathira lawmaker claimed Ruto is using the same script applied by late president Daniel Moi to allegedly profile Kenyans.

Gachagua further claimed that the looting and vandalism of businesses during the Saba Saba protests were done by state-sponsored militia.

He claimed the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader is using a divide and rule tactic after his popularity diminished in Mt Kenya region.

"During the Saba Saba protests, President Ruto organised a state-sponsored militia, in cahoots with the police, to kill and destroy property, attempting to blame it on the ... community. Ruto is working with governors and MPs allied to him to destroy businesses... and blame it on people who don't support his administration. This divide-and-rule tactic will not work, Ruto," he claimed.

Did William Ruto order police to shoot criminals?

Remarks by Gachagua came hours after Ruto sent a strong warning to people attacking the police stations.
