Wanjiku claimed the looting was part of a malicious person’s plan—a targeted attempt to ruin her.

On Friday, July 11, Kagure posted on her Facebook page that she was in sympathy with the County Supermarkets founder.

The city politician said some people cannot fully comprehend the pain and loss businesspeople have endured following recent protests.

"Kenyans will never fully comprehend the pain and loss that County Supermarkets founder and other businesspeople have endured following the looting of their premises during the protests by anarchists who infiltrated Gen Z demos," Kagure said.

What should the government do for businesses affected by protests?

According to Kagure, the recent destruction of businesses should serve as a wake-up call to the security agencies to redouble their efforts in protecting the lives and property of Kenyans.

"This should serve as a wake-up call to our security agencies to redouble their efforts in protecting life and property, or else citizens will be forced to take it upon themselves to do so," she added.

Kagure, who is eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2027, asked President William Ruto's administration to compensate businesses affected by the Gen Z demonstrations.

She argued that thousands of families are at risk if the government does not support affected businesses to get back on their feet.

"To cushion the thousands of livelihoods now at risk due to the recent looting of businesses during protests and to keep our economy running, the government should support affected businesses to get back on their feet," the businesswoman stated.

How Ndindi Nyoro criticised Ruto

In other news, Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro blamed the government for the chaos, loss of lives, and destruction of property witnessed during Monday’s Saba Saba protests.

Speaking on Thursday, July 10, Nyoro said Ruto's government must take full responsibility for the events that unfolded.

The Kiharu lawmaker said the national security apparatus is failing Kenyans despite millions being expended on it.

The lawmaker, in a fiery disposition, wondered why the National Intelligence Service (NIS) did not rise to the occasion to prepare the country for imminent security challenges on the Saba Saba Day.
