Addressing concerns around potential partiality, he emphasised that the voices of Kenyans expressed through the ballot will be safeguarded under his stewardship of the IEBC.
He declared his loyalty to the citizenry; "I wish to say to the country, that my first and foremost loyalty is to the people of Kenya who hold the sovereign power under Article 1 of our constitution, and that power allows them, therefore, to exercise their sovereign responsibility, including their right to vote, and therefore, I wish to assure Kenyans that their voices will not only be heard, but they will also count during the coming elections."
The chairman acknowledged that elections serve as the cornerstone of democracy, urging Kenyans to remain steadfast in safeguarding that principle.
He emphasised the importance of public support in enabling the IEBC to fulfill its mission of protecting national dignity and democratic values through transparent and fair elections.
While the commission prepares for the monumental task of overseeing the 2027 General Election, it is also set to begin its journey by handling a series of pending by-elections.
