Nairobi - Busia senator Okiya Omtatah has joined other Kenyan politicians in mourning the death of Zakaria Kariuki, popularly known as Mr. KK Mwenyewe.

The popular comedian passed away on Monday, July 14, at the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital, where he had been admitted.
How did KK Mwenyewe pass away?
KK rose to fame for his clever and humorous skits, often mimicking former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

Details surrounding his illness and final moments are still emerging, but a close friend disclosed that the youthful comedian was admitted after complaining of chest pain.
Taking to social media, Omtatah described KK as a talented comedian who resonated with the spirit of the current generation.
How did politicians mourn KK Mwenyewe?
In his condolence message, the Busia senator lauded the departed comedian for using his talent to highlight issues affecting society.
Mumias East MP Peter Salasya said KK will be remembered for displaying authentic content that brought joy to many.
"I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Zakaria Kariuki, popularly known as Mr. KK Mwenyewe, a young and talented comedian whose voice resonated with the spirit of a generation. Through satire and art, Mr. KK courageously held a mirror to society, using humor not to divide, but to awaken, educate, and unite. His ability to capture the political moment with sharp wit and authenticity was both refreshing and powerful.

When did Mr KK Mwenyewe become popular?
As earlier reported, KK's content gained widespread attention in 2022, shortly after Gachagua was sworn in as President William Ruto's deputy.
In one of his past interviews, which surfaced after his death, the comedian admitted he was briefly confused when his viral video drew attention.
He jokingly recalled that he even questioned his mother about his true paternity, as the resemblance to Gachagua was uncanny.
Did Rigathi Gachagua mourn KK Mwenyewe?
Gachagua penned an emotional tribute to the young comedian, describing him as "a content creator par excellence and inspiration to many".
I have this morning woken up to the sad demise of Mr. Zachariah Kariuki alias Mr. KK Mwenyewe, a content creator per excellence and inspiration to many.
Mr. KK, a young, consistent, and resilient young man, used comedy to communicate simple and creative messages to all Kenyans and spoke to our hearts.
I send my deepest sympathies to his family and his friends at this difficult moment.
I especially I condole the creative industry on the loss of a champion whose creative eye lives with us for days to come. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and God grant his family peace," eulogised Gachagua.

However, the tribute did not go down well with a section of Kenyans, who trooped to the former DP's page and castigated him for allegedly ignoring the comedian despite getting his attention.
Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi claimed he tried to take KK Mwenyewe to meet Gachagua, but he reported refused to meet the comedian.
