On Thursday, July 17, the hospital confirmed that a patient had been found dead in his bed.
Without delving into the circumstances of the death, KNH chief executive officer William Sigilai said the deceased was found doused in bedding soaked in blood.
He said detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had been notified of the matter and showed up at the scene.

"On the afternoon of 17th July 2025 at around 2 pm, immediately after visiting hours, a patient was discovered in a medical ward in blood-soaked beddings. The patient was examined and certified dead. The matter has since been reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other government security agencies," Sigilai said.
Findings of the detectives' preliminary probe indicate the patient was killed.
Police reportedly obtained surveillance camera footage, which located at the scene a suspect believed to have been responsible for another murder in February.
They also recovered the murder weapon.
Strangely, in what seems to be a developing pattern, the patient was killed in the same ward where the first one, Gilbert Kinyua, was killed in February this year.
The detectives also learned that the patient was killed in the same manner as Kinyua.
When did Gilbert Kinyua die?
It was on February 7 when KNH confirmed the death of the 39-year-old, who was later established to have been murdered.

Kinyua had been admitted to KNH on December 11, 2024, after being transferred from St. Mary's Hospital in Lang'ata.
While speaking to the National Assembly in response to a statement sought in the house by Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, former health committee chair Charles Pukose stated that Kinyua had been booked in Ward 7B, which specialises in neurological cases.
He stayed in that ward from admission through his death.
Upon his admission, Kinyua was diagnosed with wounds linked to extended immobility and faced severe limb dysfunction, requiring round-the-clock care and tube feeding.
According to Pukose, although his condition was critical, Kinyua had been found to have been showing signs of recovery.
He was reported stable on February 6, with nursing staff on duty noting no health issues during overnight monitoring.
However, the following morning, he was found dead in his hospital bed with stab injuries to the neck.

The DCI got wind of the tragic development and deployed its investigators, who confirmed that Kinyua's death was an incident of murder.
Despite having caught the attention of the public at first, the matter slowly slipped out of the public scrutiny, with the detectives keeping the status of the investigation under wraps.
