In the statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, Atellah said the union is seeking comprehensive medical cover, payment of salary arrears, and the conversion of contract doctors to permanent and pensionable terms.

"We have received WhatsApp messages, calls, and emails from members here that loudly express desperation, disillusionment, and despair on the very core matter of personal healthcare access and decent working conditions. Offering services you cannot receive when in need, and more so for your loved ones, is a paradox! Doctors have no medical insurance. The discrimination regarding the unimplemented basic salary arrears cannot be ignored any further," Atellah said.

The KMPDU boss announced that the union will hold a meeting with all MTRH doctors on Wednesday, July 23, to push the Ministry of Health (MoH) to fully implement the Return To Work Formula (RTWF).

The union also wants MTRH to settle outstanding Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) arrears.

"The national team has made it clear that we shall leave no doctor behind, and we will use all mechanisms to resolve our members' issues. Agreements must be honoured and respected, RTWF must be implemented and justice must always prevail," he stated.

Atellah said all MTRH doctors should attend the meeting, arguing that justice and fairness demand a common voice and action towards the belligerent employer.

"We are calling for a members' Kamkunji on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM at St. Luke's Hospital Eldoret, where all doctors must be physically present. We will be accompanied by HR consultants to discuss CBA arrears and RTWF implementation. Each one of us, the membership and the leadership, will take specific roles to ensure the total implementation of our demands now. In Solidarity," the KMPDU boss added.
