Faith Otieno, a commercial sex worker popularly known by her street name "Zuchu," was found dead in a lodging in Umoja estate on Sunday morning, July 27.

According to preliminary reports, the body was discovered by lodging attendants who immediately alerted the authorities.
Friends and colleagues of the deceased, who were overwhelmed by emotions, staged a protest outside the lodging demanding justice.
They called on detectives to expedite investigations and ensure that the perpetrator behind the heinous act is brought to justice.
They accused law enforcement of laxity in cases involving sex workers, urging for equal protection and swift action.
There was an emotional moment as police officers arrived at the scene to pick up Faith's body.
In the video seen by TUKO.co.ke, the victim's colleagues were wailing in pain as the officer moved the body from the room to the waiting vehicle.

The body has been moved to Nakuru County mortuary pending post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

"The continued neglect of sex workers' safety reflects a broader societal failure to recognise them as deserving of dignity and justice. When investigations into their deaths are delayed or dismissed, it reinforces dangerous power dynamics and increases vulnerability, she told TUKO.co.ke.
How a woman was killed inside a lodge in Kakamega
In a similar incident, residents of Nangili in Kakamega County were left in shock following the mysterious death of a woman identified as Betty.

TV 47 reported that Betty was found dead in a lodging hours after she arrived in the company of a man suspected to be her lover.
According to the preliminary report, Betty's lifeless body was discovered in one of the rooms, but her alleged boyfriend was nowhere to be seen.
Police officers in the area launched a manhunt for the suspect, who was last seen entering the room with Betty.
Zipporah Chepkoros, a resident, reported a surge in deaths of women at local bars and lodgings, noting this was the fourth such incident without police intervention.
They called on the police and local authorities to take action against the owner of the establishment.
