Mayienga FM reported that the senior manager collapsed during his morning run near Our Lady of Grace on Tuesday, July 29.

The incident that occurred adjacent to Kisumu Specialist Hospital along the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway left many people in shock.

What happened to George Otieno Riba?

A traffic police officer from Kondele Police Station quickly rushed to the scene and administered first aid.

Sadly, the manager, identified as George Otieno Riba, died at the scene before he could be rushed to the hospital.

The deceased was the Nyanza Regional Accountant at KBC Radio and was based in Kisumu county.

The tragic incident left many Kenyans heartbroken, with some saying it highlights the urgent need to incorporate first aid training into the education system.

"We were with George yesterday and left one another when I was going on stairs to 10th floor where my office is, and left George atthe ground floor in his office (Prosperity building, Huduma centre Kisumu) after taking breakfast at 10.30 am. Wuod Riba was very jovial, not knowing it was my last moment with Nera. He was an accountant with KBC Radio Taifa Kisumu.

How senior KDF officer died in Isiolo

In a similar incident, a senior Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) official died during a morning jogging routine.

On Tuesday, July 22, Senior Sergeant Humphrey Opondo, a 48-year-old officer collapsed at the School of Military Engineering in Isiolo.

Opondowas was rushed to a nearby dispensary, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
