On Sunday, August 10, Harambee Stars beat two-time champions Morocco in their third Group A match of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, 1-0 at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani on Sunday.

Ryan Ogam’s 42nd-minute strike proved decisive at the fully packed Kasarani, as Benni McCarthy’s side defied the odds and Morocco’s unbeaten CHAN record to emerge victorious.

Despite being reduced to 10 men, Harambee Stars' goalkeeper, Bryne Omondi, made several crucial saves to keep the scoreline intact and was named the man of the match.

In other news, a section of Kenyans said President William Ruto's promise to the prayers was a key motivating factor in the win.

The president promised each player KSh 1 million for every win and KSh 500,000 for every draw.

The head of state had also promised the team KSh 60 million if they managed to secure a slot at the quarterfinals.
