According to detectives at Kasarani Police Station, Kitavi is believed to have been murdered inside his house between 8.00 pm and 8.40 pm.

The CCTV footage capturing the movements of the suspects in the compound is what led to the arrest of Stephen Kioko, Kitavi's step-son.

It has also emerged that two months before he was murdered, Kitavi had filed a report at Kasarani Police Station over the loss of key documents.

He reported having lost his academic certificates, land title deeds, several land allocation certificates and logbook to his motor vehicle.

How Dorothy Kitavi lost family land

As reported earlier, Kitavi's first wife, Dorothy Kitavi, narrated how the land she acquired with her husband was taken by her co-wife.

Dorothy alleged that she co-owned the Thome plot with her husband, but things changed when he got married to his second wife.

However, prior to the husband's death, there had been talks for the second wife to vacate the plot for another place, but that never happened.

Detectives also linked the fight over properties as the motive behind the lecturer's murder.
