William Ruto Donates KSh 1m to Family of UDA Aspirant Who Collapsed, Died During Empowerment Event

Andanje collapsed and died shortly after arriving at a women’s empowerment event in Kakamega county on Friday, August 15.

On Saturday, August 16, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi delivered Ruto's condolence message to Andanje's family at Imanda village in Manda-Shivanga ward.

How Musalia Mudavadi mourned Enock Andaje?

Andanje was one of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants for the upcoming Malava constituency parliament by-election.

In his heartfelt condolence message, Mudavadi said Andanje's untimely death was a major setback both to the family and the community.

According to Mudavadi, Andanje's decision to take an early retirement as high school principal to serve the Malava people, was a clear indication that he was committed to the community.

"Dr. Andanje, who was among our UDA aspirants in the upcoming Malava by-election, has left us far too soon. His passing is not only a deep loss to his family but also a setback to our community and the democratic journey he was prepared to champion.
"The education sector has equally lost a remarkable and selfless leader. As the immediate former Principal of Bungoma High School, Dr. Andanje dedicated his life to nurturing young minds. His decision to take early retirement in order to serve the people of Malava is a true reflection of his commitment to community service and leadership," Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi, who also serves as the Foreign Affairs Cabinet secretary, announced that the president had donated KSh 1,000,000 to the grieving family.

On his part, the Prime Cabinet Secretary gave a donation of KSh 300,000 to the grieving family to support in the burial preparations.

"On behalf of President William Ruto, I delivered a contribution of KSh 1,000,000 and from my side, a personal contribution of KSh 300,000 to support the family with burial preparations. May the soul of Dr. Enock Andanje find eternal rest," the PCS announced.

What happened before Enock Andanje's death?

As reported, the widow, Alice Andanje, disclosed that her husband was in good health when he left his home in Imanda village in the morning to attend the empowerment event.

According to Alice, a teacher at St. Cecilia Lufumbo Secondary School, Andanje had no health complications.

However, at 10 am, she received a distress call saying her husband had collapsed and been rushed to Kakamega hospital.

Alice narrated that when she arrived at the hospital, she knew all was not well after noticing the gloomy faces of the people around the hospital.
