The tragic accident occurred at 5am on Sunday, August 17, when a lorry carrying three people plunged into the Kipsonoi River.
What caused the Bomet bridge accident?
Preliminary investigations show that the lorry lost control, veered off the road and plunged into the river at Soymet Bridge.

Authorities said two occupants died on the spot, while one sustained injuries and was rushed to Kaplong Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Bomet County Government divers have managed to retrieve the two bodies from the swollen Kipsonoi River.
Photos seen by TUKO.co.ke show police, Red Cross team and other rescuers at the scene leading the efforts to retrieve the lorry from the river.
Police have since launched investigations into the cause of the crash, though overspeeding and poor visibility at dawn are suspected factors.
Residents have expressed concern over frequent accidents in the area, urging the government to improve road safety measures around Soymet Bridge.

How many people died in the Machakos accident
Meanwhile, in Machakos county, two people died on the spot in a horrible accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway on Saturday, August 16.
The report filed at Kyumbi Police Station indicates the accident involved a Mercedes-Benz trailer, an Isuzu pick-up, and another trailer, all headed toward Mombasa.
Athi River South Subcounty Police Commander David Kandie said occupants of two of the vehicles involved died on the spot, while three other people sustained injuries.

According to KBC, the fatal crash occurred at around 7.30am at the Kapiti Plains area within the Kyumbi traffic sub-base command.
Preliminary reports show the pick-up driver attempted to overtake the first trailer but changed his mind after seeing the oncoming trailer.
The pickup lost control during the collision, veered off the road, and overturned on the highway's left side after being struck by an oncoming vehicle.
What the police said about recent road accidents
In other news, the National Police Service (NPS) released a statement regarding the rise in the number of road accidents.
The statement by NPS came days after 26 people from the same village perished in a deadly crash in Kisumu.
In a statement on Sunday, August 10, NPS said that in collaboration with other state agencies, they are investigating the recent surge in road accidents.
The statement by NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga urged motorists and Kenyans to observe traffic rules at all times.
Nyaga asked passengers using PSV to report any driver who breaks rules, such as overspeeding.
