On Sunday, August 17, Ruto was among thousands of football fans who attended the game at Moi Sports Center Kasarani.

After the win, Ruto and other senior government officials visited the dressing room to congratulate the players.

Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, later shared a video of Ruto interacting with the players.

In the video, the president is captured offering a powerful prayer to the team and the country.

What are Ruto's prayers for the remaining CHAN 2024 games?

In his prayer, Ruto thanked God for the win and prayed that the Lord grant Harambee Stars wins in the remaining games.

"Our Heavenly Father, we want to thank you for this evening. Thank you to this team, Team Kenya, Harambee Stars. We want to commit these good citizens of our country, these good players, to your good hands as they play, protect them, Heavenly Father. Give them success in all the remaining games. We pray for our nation. Thank you to the fans who have come through to support them," Ruto prayed.

The head of state also prayed that God helps the country reach the finals and lift the coveted trophy for the first time.

"Thank you to all who have come to support these young people of our nation. Thank you to their families. We want to pray over their lives, that you will make them successful, even in this game, and that they will inspire other young people to be good players.
"Lift our nation up, Heavenly Father. Lift these young men so that they can lift our nation. We pray over their lives. We pray over the games that are ahead. Father, we want to pray that when they get to the finals, you will give us victory. In Jesus' name we pray," the president prayed.

How William Ruto has been motivating players

As reported, some Kenyans attributed Harambee Stars' good performance to the cash reward declared by the president.

According to Kenyans, the cash reward system has been a key motivating factor for good performance shown by the players in the CHAN 2024 games.

In the initial games, each player received KSh 1 million for every win, while KSh 500,000 for every draw.

But for the Zambia win, the president announced that players will receive KSh 2.5 million each.
