During the rescue, some passengers could be heard wailing in pain as they were being pulled out of the overturned bus.

What has been causing frequent road accidents

Following a recent deadly crash in Kisumu that claimed 27 lives, the National Police Service (NPS) announced on Sunday, August 10, that it is investigating the increasing number of road accidents.

NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga urged motorists to observe traffic rules.

According to Nyaga, preliminary investigations showed that recent accidents could have been avoided had drivers and road users avoided basic mistakes such as speeding.

He said some of the reasons behind the rising in accidents include avoiding speeding, dangerous overtaking, drink-driving, overloading, driver fatigue, and careless road crossing.
