Mourners sing as coffin is lowered

Mourners were singing a sombre hymn as the wooden coffin was slowly lowered into the deep grave.

In the background, several male mourners dressed in black, the traditional colour for funerals, were visible.

They neither stood too far from the grave nor too close to risk tripping and falling in.

They maintained a respectful distance as the ceremony neared its end, giving the deceased what was meant to be a peaceful and befitting send-off.

Ropes supporting coffin in burial break

The lowering began smoothly, but it was not long before the unexpected happened.

The ropes supporting the coffin suddenly broke, and the casket fell with a thud, raising dust into the air.

A murmur spread among the mourners, who were visibly startled and seemed to question what had just transpired.

There were no screams or wails, just murmurs of confusion.
