Kenya Power Areas in 5 Counties to Experience Electricity Interruptions on Sunday, August 24

Nairobi - Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has scheduled another round of system maintenance on Sunday, August 24.

In a notice on its website, Kenya Power indicated that the planned maintenance will affect electricity supply in five counties.

Why KPLC system maintenance is important

According to the schedule, KPLC will turn off power supply in the affected areas for at most nine hours starting at 8am.

The utility firm stated that it is necessary to interrupt supply periodically in order to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during road construction.

The counties to be affected by the planned system maintenance are Nairobi, Kiambu, Vihiga, Mombasa, and Kisumu.

1. Nairobi County

Area: Part of Enterprise Road (9am - 5pm)

City Engineering, Plastic and Rubber Industries, Gilgil Industrial Park, Timber World Limited, Ace Auto Center, Fire Station, Midco Textiles, Total Petrol Station, KWAL Equity Bank, Unifilters, Tim Sales, Sadolin Paints, Subaru Aftermarkets, Parts Designs & Woodcrafts, Maxy's Lounge, Blackwood Hodge, Kaycer Ind & Shah Timber, Gilgil Road, Busia Road, Isiolo Road, Homabay Road, Jirore Road and adjacent customers.

2. Kisumu County

Area: Robert Ouko (8am- 5pm)

Okore Estate, Obunga, Nyawita, Juakali, Robert Ouko Estate, KICOMI, Victoria Hotel, Tom Mboya Estate and adjacent customers.

3. Vihiga County

Area: Mahanga, Lyanaginga (9am - 5pm)

Waluka, Elukhambi, Mahanga, Itabalia, Ebwali, Esongolo, Mwitokho Fishpond, Lyanaginga, Musunguti, Chanzweye TVET, Wambudo Water, Madzuu, Ihyagalo and adjacent customers.

4. Kiambu County

Area: Cravers, Witeithie, Kibute, Kiahuria (9am - 5pm)

Does KPLC tariff determine tokens?

In other news, Kenya Power explained how tariffs affect thr token amount allocated to customers

The electricity distributor stated that it determines the token amount and units based on a customer's tariff category.

KPLC's July announcement detailed these tariff categories, noting that consumers using 30 units or less monthly benefit from special rates.
