What causes road accidents in Kenya
The latest accident occurred a day after Roads Cabinet Secretary David Chirchir issued a strong warning to motorists about rising road carnage.
In a statement on Saturday, August 23, the Ministry of Roads and Transport implored all road users to be watchful to avert the spate of accidents.
Chirchir spoke after receiving the report of the investigations into the recent string of tragic road accidents.
The Roads CS explained the causes of the carnage, putting road users on notice as he called on all stakeholders to restore order on the roads.
According to the CS, most accidents are caused by poor roads, drivers' inappropriate behaviours, and unroadworthy vehicles.
He stated that all the government agencies had been activated to enforce the measures for sanity on the roads.
Chirchir further added that the ministry will prioritise repairing dangerous sections of highways while working with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
