Addressing congregants at the Kitui West International Prayer Day held at Kauwi Grounds, Wambua linked the action to his recent criticism of what he called misdeeds within the President William Ruto led government.
The senator argued that security should not be viewed as a personal entitlement but as protection accorded to the office he holds.

“Today I am holding the office, tomorrow I may not be. If that office is entitled to security, let it be restored,” he said.
What did Wambua say about alleged security withdrawal?
Despite the withdrawal, Wambua said he remained unfazed, declaring that he draws his protection from God and the people of Kitui.
“If they think they are going to intimidate me by removing security, then they have touched a wrong number,” he remarked.
“With or without security, I will continue to speak for my people and hold the national government accountable. Intimidation will not silence us. We shall continue speaking truth to power, at whatever cost,” he added.
Is there insecurity along Kitui-Tana River border?
The Wiper senator also raised concerns about rising insecurity on the Kitui–Tana River border, noting that families were living in fear of attacks from armed camel herders.
He said many residents, among them women and children, had resorted to spending nights in the bushes for safety.
He criticised the Interior Ministry, blaming CS Kipchumba Murkomen and his officials for failing to protect the community.

He called on Ruto to step in directly, saying, “It’s time the President himself stepped in to restore security and protect our people.”
His remarks came against the backdrop of heightened political tensions and mounting frustration in parts of Kitui South, where residents have repeatedly pleaded with the government to take decisive action on insecurity.
Was Babu Owino’s security withdrawn for protesting?
Wambua’s claims followed those of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who alleged that the state had taken away his protection shortly after he joined Kenyans in the June 25 memorial protests in Nairobi.
His participation in the demonstrations drew wide attention as crowds cheered his presence.
The MP linked the withdrawal of his security to his decision to stand with citizens calling for change in governance.
