Police officers in Migori county are investigating an incident where a 19-year-old man was struck by electricity and badly injured while working at a construction site within Bethel estate in Rongo sub county.

How Migori mjengo man struck by electricity

The young man who the police have since identified as Frankline Otieno is said to have been struck while working at the construction site after he accidentally touched a live electricity wire.

Rongo sub-county police commander Salim Fundi told TUKO.co.ke that the incident happened on Wednesday, March 12 at around 2.00 pm.

The young man was rushed to Rongo Sub-County Hospital where he got first treatment before he was later transferred to Migori County Teaching and Referral Hospital where he is still recuperating.

"We got a report that the man was working at the site when he accidentally touched a live wire from a nearby building which is also still under construction,” Fundi said.
“According to the medical reports, we received from Rongo Sub-County Hospital, he had 30% burn from the incident,” he added.

Eyewitnesses recount Migori incident

Some of the construction workers who were with the victim at the site during the incident said the electricity exploded on him.

"It was so fast but we were able to rescue him before he lost his life," Dancun Agunga who was at the site recounted.
“We were trying to do some wiring when he touched a live wire unknowingly,” he added.

Migori County Referral Hospital medical superintendent Dolcie Nyagilo confirmed that the patient was admitted and he was recuperating under their care.

"We received a patient from Rongo Sub County Hospital yesterday. He had 40 per cent electricity burns and he is currently in a stable condition," Nyagilo told TUKO.co.ke.

Siaya mjengo man builds his mum a house

Separately, TUKO.co.ke reported that a man working at construction site had build his mother a lovely house.

The man identified as David Oduor had achieved the milestone despite making KSh 400 daily from his mjengo work.

Oduor is 26, and currently a student at the Eldoret Technical Training Institute, currently pursuing a diploma in building and construction.

He opened up on how he managed to raise that was used to construct a house for his widowed mother.
