According to Oduor, the 20-year-old Mass Communication and Computer Science student was likely suffocated after a violent struggle.

The pathologist also dismissed earlier speculation that Kemunto was pregnant at the time of her death.

"I can confirm to you that there was no evidence of someone pregnant because the cervix was closed. The uterus was also non-gravid in that situation, not having any baby in it,” he clarified.

Omari and Wambui strongly criticised Multimedia University for failing to send representatives to witness the postmortem of one of their students.

"We are at Montezuma Monalisa Mortuary, where is the university? The body on which the post _morterm is being done belongs to a student of a public university funded by 55 million Kenyans they can't even be here to show remorse, to be present to see a post-mortem of one of their own. It is just sad and it is cruel," they said.

Meanwhile, Kemunto’s decomposing body was discovered in a rooftop water tank three days after she went missing.

Her suspected killer, Philip Eric Mutinda, a fellow first-year student pursuing Electrical Engineering, surrendered to police after days of going into hiding. Investigations into the case are ongoing as the suspect awaits a court appearance.

Did Phillip Mutinda confess to killing Sylvia Kemunto?

Meanwhile, Mutinda, the prime suspect told investigators that he visited her room on the day of her disappearance, aware that she would be alone with intentions of seducing Kemunto.

However, when she resisted his advances, a confrontation ensued. He claimed that during the scuffle, he struck and pushed her, causing her to hit her head against the wall and collapse.

In an attempt to conceal the incident, the suspect is said to have folded Kemunto’s body into a large suitcase, briefly took it to his own room in Block E, and later disposed of it in a rooftop water tank, where it was discovered in a decomposed state.
