The clip, shared on X by Anwar Saddat, captured the head of state stirring a huge sufuria of githeri over a fire as an employee seemingly directed him on how to go about the task.

Ruto held the cooking stick with both hands, working to ensure the mixture of maize and beans was properly stirred. He wore blue jeans, a light blue polo shirt, a brown and black fedora, and completed the look with dark shades.

Kenyans raised concerns about the use of firewood for cooking, questioning the president's stance on clean energy.

Others, however, defended the president, asking why people expected luxury for farm workers.

George Diano:

“I saw the githeri that day, and as a farmer who usually has casual labourers at the farm, I knew this guy is very wicked.”

Anyole:

“A billionaire's workers shouldn't cook in mabati shelters. Whoever advised him to share such videos should be fired; it shows a rotten image.”

Anwar Saddat:

“The ratio of beans to maize should be 50:1, but he added a sprinkle.”

Rev Elidamos Livingston Makali:

“People in the comment section expect Ruto to give his workers pizza and shawarma?”

Logic Bomb:

“They should have a cafeteria with full-time staff and a variety of food.”

Tachoni Spokesman:

“Leave the githeri aside. This guy is installing Stabex gas in schools and talking about clean energy, but his workers are using firewood. Could these be the reasons for the deforestation happening to get firewood?”

Jack Mwai:

“This has softened my heart. I will vote for him again.”

Dennis Twabe:

“A very caring and loving president. He is the most humble and hardworking.”

Jeff Ouma:

“Do the workers eat githeri daily?”

Kimutai Kelvin Generali:

“Mr President, kindly do something about that lid. It won’t cost you much.”

Ayub Muhsin:

“Anwar, I have never in my life met someone who doesn't see good in others like you. Can you borrow a leaf from the teachings of the Prophet (Peace be upon him)?”

Joshua Mbai:

“The fact that the staff use wood and open flames for their cooking means all the stories about clean energy are 'donor baits'. A biogas digester for this kitchen would cost less than KSh 100,000.”
