The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a scheduled electricity outage affecting parts of seven counties on Thursday, April 17.

In a notice published on its website, the utility firm said the planned power interruptions are part of a routine maintenance exercise aimed at upgrading power lines, connecting new customers, and supporting infrastructure developments such as road construction.

Kenya Power emphasised that temporary interruptions are necessary to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the national electricity supply network.

The affected counties include Nairobi, Meru, Kajiado, Kiambu, Kakamega, Mombasa, and Uasin Gishu.

Kiambu county

Magajo Primary, Farainya St. Paul Gatuanyaga, Magana Primary, Munyu Girls, Munyu Dispensary, Munyu Police Station, Githima S/Center, Komo S/Center, Juja Farm Athi, Kwa Ruhi, Juja Farm, Mukuyu-Ini, Kwa Murage and adjacent customers.

Part of Githunguri Town, Mukua (From 9am to 5pm)

Fresha Dairies, Palm House Dairies, County Pride, Thakwa, Wanjo, Githunguri Shops, AP Canteen, Beta Care, Equity, Shell Githunguri and the neighbouring customers.

Mombasa county

Mwakirunge (From 9am to 5pm)

Which regions will receive heavy rainfall this week?

In other news, the Kenya Meteorological Department issued an alert about heavy rainfall expected in most parts of the country between April 15 and 21.

The rains will affect five regions and several counties, including Kakamega, Nandi, Bungoma, Vihiga, Siaya, Baringo, Machakos, Nakuru, Narok, Nyandarua, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Garissa, Kericho, Isiolo, Trans-Nzoia, Kisumu, Homa Bay, West Pokot, Migori, and Nyamira.

Most areas will experience morning, afternoon, and night showers, with thunderstorms expected in a few locations.
