Miriam Wanjiru, the mother, says the ordeal began on Tuesday, April 15, when the family attended a burial ceremony in Yamumbi, on the outskirts of Eldoret.

After the event, Robert Mugo failed to return home, prompting a frantic search by his family.

Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, Wanjiru described the harrowing experience of trying to trace her son.

She said that despite receiving a tip that he was spotted in Kipkaren estate the following day, the lead turned out to be false.

"I have searched all over this county, in every estate I suspected he might have gone to, but my efforts have been in vain," she said.

Mugo, who lives with a mental health condition, is a student at GZ Primary School in Eldoret, where he attends classes with his younger brother, who is in Grade 6.

She described Mugo as a friendly boy who interacted well with his schoolmates and children in the neighborhood.

"My life has become unbearable. We have no peace of mind. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to our family," she said tearfully.

The distraught mother has reported the matter to several police stations including Langas, Yamumbi, and Eldoret Central, in hopes of enlisting help in locating her son.

Wanjiru vowed not to give up until her son is found, saying her only hope is to see him safe and restore her peace of mind.

Neighbours have come forward to support Wanjiru, describing her current state as deeply troubled.

“Please report to the police if you come across the child. The mother cannot concentrate on any work—her thoughts are constantly on her son,” said a concerned neighbour, Njoroge.

The incident adds to a growing number of mysterious child disappearances in Langas estate and other parts of Eldoret City, reported since 2024.

While some children have been found, others remain missing, raising concern among residents and local authorities.
